"This was my first ever track mile, before I ran only on the road. I must admit I did not expect such a fast time. That is a positive surprise, it means I maybe will be able to run also under 3:30 at the 1500m. I will speak with my Brasilian coach Luiz de Oliveira about the best tactics for Helsinki, where I will represent Qatar. The most important will be to stay with the guys until the final kick"
400m: 55.54
800m 1.51.17 55.63
1200m: 2.50.73 59.56
Mile: 3:47.97 57.25
"A very hard competition. All the best throwers were here. I won - and I am very happy. Over 90 meters is very good, without wind. In better conditions it could have been real good."
"It is not my style to say this, but Im proud after todays competition. Mainly for my fighting spirit. Because in the warm-up I started to feel a spasm in my left achilles and was thinking whether to compete at all. Fortunately even with pain I was able to jump and win. It was a risk, because if it had gone wrong I could even risk my participation in Helsinki. My only aim was to win and continue to race for the jackpot, I was seeing that the American girl lost the race, so I knew we remained only two. I hope that tommorrow the pain will be not so big and my Helsinki participation will not be in question."
"It was not a best race, but IÕm coming back. I know where I am by now. Still enough time to come to the right shape."
"It was a very good race on a fast track. Just at the 7th hurdle I had a small problem, otherwise it was a good race also technically. In Helsinki it will be totally different with three races where anything could happen. DonÕt ask me about favourites, everybody from 8 finalist will be a favourite."
1000 m: 2,51
2000 m: 5,45 - 2,54
3000 m: 8,41 - 2,56
"I expected such a fast time, Im in good shape. I was ready for any kind of the race. In Helsinki I will run 1500m but for the future my event will be 5000m. At the World Championships my aim is to achieve the best possible placing and I will be ready for a slow or fast race."
"This track is very fast. I am sure that there will be very strong results here," said the winner. 10.02 is one of his best races ever. His best is 9.99.
"Now I am looking forward to the World Championships in Helsinki. My great goal for the seson is to win a medal at the World Championships at 100m. "
Zakari do not compete at 200 m.
"The start was good, then in the middle I stumbled a little bit, so I needed to fight to come back in the race. It was not easy at all. I was not thinking about the jackpot before the race, just on this 100 metres of today to be concentrated enough and ran my own race. Now Oslo is over and Helsinki are coming. The time to think about the jackpot will come after World Championships, not now."
"A win is always very good preparation for a big event and Im happy I was also able to repeat the win from last year. It looks like good things could now happen to me. I knew a final kick would be needed and was prooved. In 2003 Bekele was the main favourite in Paris and he did not win so I think so is the situation also now in Helsinki it will anybodys race."
Kilometertider:
1000m: 2.37, 2000m: 5.17 - 2.40, 3000m: 7.55 - 2.37, 4000m: 10.38 - 2.43, 5000m: 13.14.9 - 2.36.9
"I am very disappointed. I stumbled, I almost fell, I do not know why. The race was until that moment fine. I do not think I started too fast. These things could happen, my goals for Helsinki are remaining to attack the highest positions."
This was Sandra Glovers first win over Demus this season.
"My husband and coach (Dan Glover) told me before the race: Donst give up if you are behind after 200 meter. You are strong and I was."
"But you were many meters behind out on the last stretch."
"That is my way of running. Today I had enough power the last meters.
I am very happy," said the runner.
"And the World Championships?"
"I feel strong and think that I am one of the girls that can win."
"I m just happy doing some improvement. Coming back from injury it feels a lot better now. After some time I was able to attack 1.96 and that is a good sign before the World Championships. Now I have one week before my competition and to jump 1.93 makes me confident for the qualification. Although I want to minimise my jumps there to save energy for the final."
"Very good preparation for my 1500m at the World Championships. A win is always a win and this time with a personal best, although I must admit I expected to run 1:44. But I started too slow. Second thing was that I checked my speed and could be confident for the last 300m in Helsinki. The most important thing will be to go through the rounds and reach the final. Then anything can happen..."
"I started easy and got a nice run. At the end I felt strong and made a good finish," said the winner. "This was one of my best races this year. I am on a good way before Helsinki. I really look forward to the World Championships, said the finalist from Athens last year."
